The Future of Gaming The Future of Computers

One of the things I like to do is follow different web sites to keep up with what is going on in computers.  One part of the world wide web that is always looking for the newest in computer hardware and what is going to come next are the gamers and the computer gaming sites.  One well put together site is Rock, Paper, Shotgun .  It is visually easy to scan but catchy enough to make you stop and read.  Some of the articles are original but they aren't afraid to "review"/link to another article on the net.  The article that caught my attention was, "Mark Rein Says PC Has "Shot By" Consoles" by John Walker".  It linked to the original article by Johnny Minkley called, "Rein: PC gaming has "shot by" consoles by a very good web site called Eurogamer.  Included in the original article is an excellent video showing interviews of people in the gaming industry talking about how consoles rely on computers to design the games for consoles and point to the future of consoles and games in general.  This is a two part article/video where part two is promised "next" Friday (7/15/11?).

The article and video in Eurogamer is excellent.  I think it really gives an insight into how games are made and how the future of what computers can do will look like.  I check both Eurogamer and Rock, Paper, Shotgun fairly regularly but I tend to check Rock, Paper, Shotgun more often.  Why, well because I find it easier to read even though Eurogamer had the original article and a fabulous video.  Ironically I think Rock, Paper, Shotgun looks more visual but it is easier for the text reader to scan and absorb information easily.  Eurogamer on the other hand, has the original content and is more geared to the visual video person.

This post is really about three different subjects that interest me.  The Eurogamer article and video feed my interest in PC games and PC hardware.  But the Rock, Paper, Shotgun site feeds my interest in PC games and web site design.  Since starting this blog I have been looking at web sites a little differently.  I look at them now from the perspective of how I would like my site to be like.   Both sites are way beyond what I have here but both have given me some ideas to work on in the future.  In the meantime they both got the word and visuals to me of how PCs will be able to do in the future.  It also stressed that consoles will probably not completely replace the PC any time soon as a gaming platform.  Check both sites out and their articles, I think you will find them interesting on many different levels.

Fallout 4: Settlements and Crafting for Experience

I like watching videos on YouTube that talk about different ways to build a character in Fallout 4.  Some builds avoid character stats and...
